Trigg Morris Men
Type: Performance
The Morris is one of England's oldest customs, thought to have been performed to welcome Spring, and ensure fertility at the rebirth of the year, and it was traditionally performed by men. One of the earliest written records of Morris Dancing anywhere refers to New Years Day 1467, at Lanherne Manor, near St Columb, Cornwall

Our costume reflects our rural background, and you will note that our green baldricks are decorated with Celtic designs that are found on the Ancient Stone Crosses located around the County.
Our name comes from "The Hundred of Trigg", an ancient administrative area of Mid Cornwall, and most of our men live within reasonably easy reach of Bodmin.
We perform dances of the "Cotswold" style, and have concentrated on the Traditions, (or Collections), from the villages of Bucknell, Fieldtown, (now Leafield), and Stanton Harcourt, all in Oxfordshire. We hope you notice the difference in the styles!
